The Fredericktowne Players is proud to announce its 2007-2008 season, our 39th.  The shows have been chosen to appeal not only to our audiences but also to directors, performers and those with technical interests. If you are interested in Directing, please contact Scott Beadle. Download Director's Guidelines.

If you are not interested in directing for us at this time, please keep in mind that the Play Selection Committee is currently working on the 2008-2009 season (can you believe it?) should you have any suggestions or comments.

The Fantasticks - September 28, 29, 30, October 4, 5, 6, 7, 2007 (RED = Private performances for Frederick Memorial Hospital.) Book by: Tom Jones.  Lyrics by: Tom Jones. Music by: Harvey Schmidt. Directed by Chris Causer. Based on Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand. "Try To Remember" a time when this romantic musical wasn't enchanting audiences at New York’s Sullivan Street Playhouse. “The Fantasticks” is the longest-running musical in the world, and with good reason: at the heart of its breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical sophistication is a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time.  Its moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned, only to discover a more mature, meaningful love is punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy, memorable songs, many of which have become standards.

Bullshot Crummond - January 25, 26, February 1, 2, and 3, 2008. Farce by  Ron House, Diz White, Alan Sherman, John Neville Andrews and Derek Cunningham. Directed by Diane Causer. A delightful and funny spoof of the 1930’s ‘B’ grade detective movies. Bullshot Crummond meets the usual gangster molls, foreign saboteurs, and mob characters as he saves England from the dreadful Hun.  The show, set in the 1930's,  comes complete with a secret  formula, mad professor, hapless heroine, a devilish Hun, and an always bumbling Captain Bullshot Crummond. Grab onto your seat while this madcap mystery spoof leads you through uproarious twists and unpredictable turns. Can Bullshot save the world from the evil Otto Von Bruno?... Watch and find out!

Once Upon A Mattress - July 25, 26, August 1, 2, and 3, 2008. Music by Mary Rodgers. Lyrics by Marshall Barer. Book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller
and Marshall Barer. Directed by Bill Moore. If you thought you knew the story of "The Princess and The Pea," you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? And was it a pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.
