Players Move to FCC to Launch 2006-2007 Season
Frederick,
MD, June 8, 2006 --- The Fredericktowne Players (FTP), the greater Frederick
area’s community theatre company since 1969, has announced that they will be
moving to a new venue at Frederick Community College’s Jack B. Kussmaul
Theater just in time to launch their new 2006-2007 Season.
FTP
will be leaving their current venue at
Tuscarora
High
School
after a very successful year there. They will finish up their exciting 2005-2006
Season at Tuscarora’s Titan Theatre with a two-weekend run of the popular
musical, Gypsy, on July 21,22, and 28-30. They will then move to their new home
at FCC.
Fredericktowne
Players President Nancy Speck feels that this move to FCC will help the
organization accomplish their core mission of providing opportunities for the
people of Frederick County and surrounding areas to participate in and enjoy
quality theatrical productions. "The Fredericktowne Players are thrilled to
find a home at
Frederick
Community
College
's
400-seat Kussmaul Theater and are looking forward to being part of the lively
arts scene at the College. We know our audiences will like the convenient
location and plentiful free parking and that our performers and audiences alike
will love the intimacy that this perfect size house affords."
FCC’s
Arts Center Director, Wendell Poindexter, is looking forward to this new
addition to FCC’s artistic offerings to the community. “My staff and I are
excited and pleased to have the Fredericktowne Players join
Frederick
Community
College
.
I believe this is a perfect fit. FTP will be an extreme
benefit to our performing arts' faculty and students, bringing to our college
community quality performances and many years of experience in the arts. This
will be a great partnership.”
Both
FTP and FCC recognize the importance of providing opportunities for students to
work and learn in a live theatre environment. They consider this new partnership
to be an extension of FTP’s existing commitment to area students who are
interested in developing their skills in the theatre. For more information see
